Svevind AB applied for and received permission to build and operate 12 wind turbines at the site Dragaliden in 2008. The project is located in the middle of giant wind farm cluster Markbygden MB1101. The permit was issued in February and the building permit in March 2008. The company began building the facility in the fall of 2008 and the first two wind turbines were put into operation at the end of 2009. The remaining 10 turbines were built in the summer of 2010 and were put into operation in December of the same year. The total installed capacity is 24 MW. The wind farm is connected to Dragaliden substation, owned by Dragaliden Net AB.
Dragaliden is a pilot project and has provided tremendous operational experience for the following Markbygden 1101 project, including: The conditions for construction and operation in a cold climate. Future training and labor needs. The pilot plant has given interested parties the opportunity to form their own opinion about the impact of wind turbines on the environment. This project, originally owned and operated in a joint venture by Svevind AB and Enercon GmbH, was sold to a third party after more than 10 years of operation.
